Living Gallery started out as an idea of how Glassball could work with those living within the Hanley East area of Stoke-on-Trent during a period of change (both positive & negative) and regeneration. We worked in the area for just over three years as the project evolved alongside the physical and very personal transitions taking place.
Following many events, talks, workshops, the co-creative artworks made with members of the public from the area, were installed in empty properties and site hoardings along a main arterial road into the city centre. The first phase of this project, which began in 2008, involved applying artworks, produced with the City Waterside residents, to 57 empty properties along Bucknall New Road. The second phase began in 2009 and engaged the residents to produce artworks that were applied to over 200m of site hoardings.
