ILLUME was a three year collaborative public art project, in Skelmersdale, Lancashire.
The artworks are rooted in a dialogue between perceptions of time, place and collective memory. The donation of thousands of medium format glass slides from the Lancashire Archives, documenting the development of this former New Town, have acted as a catalyst for various visual debates and conversations with public space within the town.
We have been working with residents, West Lancs College staff and students, local primary schools, and collaborating with artists André Stitt and musician Simon Tong. Exhibitions, events & talks have been held at PR1 Gallery, Preston, the Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool and Lancashire Archives, Preston.
