Alternative Futures is a collaborative three year artist led public art and place-based project that is shaped by the lived experience, past and present, of the predominantly working class communities of Skelmersdale, Lancashire.

Engaging with unique heritage from the former Skelmersdale Development Corporation through unseen architectural models, photographic and paper collections. We want to recognise the lives that created the first of the second generation new towns: how does place affect people and their lives, that over time have become embedded within the built and green spaces of this former new town.
